Martin Schicketanz

The German baritone, Martin Schicketanz, succeeded to the music through children’s and youth roles in the Mitteldeutschen Landestheater Wittenberg zur Musik. In 2008 he began his singing studies at the Hochschule für Musik Dresden and continued his studies in the Lied- und concert class with Christiane Junghanns and Olaf Bär. He received important lessons with Britta Schwarz, Dorothee Mields and Ingeborg Danz.

His special love applies to the concert compartment. Martin Schicketanz is regularly heard in oratorios and cantatas and hasd sung at various festivals (among others Gstaad Menuhin Festival (Switzerland), Musikfest Stuttgart, BOZAR Festival (Belgium) and Musikfest Erzgebirge)) under conductors such as Hans-Christoph Rademann, Václav Luks, Ekkehard Klemm and Ludger Rémy.

Martin Schicketanz is particularly interested in contemporary vocal music. Thus, he sang Zangezi in the co-operation project of the composion class of Manos Zangaris and the Semperoper; sang in Wolfgang Mitterer’s Das tapfere Schneiderlein in the Kleinen Haus of the Staatsschauspiels Dresden; and is a member of AuditivVokal Dresden.

Martin Schicketanz sings in various ensembles such as the Dresdner Kammerchor (Director: Hans-Christoph Rademann), Collegium Vocale 1704 (Director: Václav Luks) and the Collegium Vocale Gent (Director: Philippe Herreweghe).
