Peter Zajíček studied the violin at the Conservatory and VŠMU (University of Musical Arts) in Bratislava, and has taken part in several master courses aimed at the interpretative practise of early music. He is the artistic director and concert leader of the ensemble Musica Aeterna, with whom, alongside numerous concerts in Europe and overseas, he has also produced successful CD recordings. Several of these have gained prestigious awards abroad. He is president of the Centre of Early Music, which under his leadership founded the Days of Early Music in Bratislava, an international festival with an already-established tradition of success. Peter Zajíček teaches in an capacity at the University of Musical Arts in Bratislava, at the Comenius University in Bratislava and lectured at the Ecclesiastical Conservatory in Bratislava. He devotes himself intensively to musicological research, whose results he has presented not only in his own concert projects and CD recordings, but also in lectures in Bratislava, Paris, Nürnberg, Vienna, Münster, Granada, Prag, Brno, Katovice, Buenos Aires… He collaborated closely with the Centre of Baroque Music in Versailles and with the baroque dance company L´Eventail. As soloist and artistic director of the ensemble Musica Aeterna he has collaborated with practically all of the leading individual interpreters of early music, and as a guest artist he has led ensembles in the USA, France, Austria, Prague, and elsewhere. In 1997 he was the co-founder of the musical association Albrecht Collegium, and in 1999 he founded the ensemble Miméza, later Festival Orchestra Apollo. He is the author of the first publications in the slovak language concern of interpretation violin music from the 17th and 18th centuries. In recent years he is active as concert master and lecturer in the field of early music. In 2017, the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic awarded him the Prize of the Minister of Culture of the Slovak Republic for the year 2016.
